Talent Development Follow-up Rome 2nd – 3rd November 2006
Building on a previous session, this workshop developed key competencies from the aggregate team feedback.

With a bit of free time I walked down to the Coliseum where you can still feel the atmosphere.

Close by was a statue of Caesar evoking awe in those below. Thoughts on leadership lent me to reflect on what this great leader really did. He inspired in his followers great emotions, emotions that took them far beyond the norms of the average follower. Great leaders evoke great emotions in their followers???

Leadership Development Programme 31st October and 1st November 2006

'The quality of leadership, more than any other single factor, determines the success or failure of an organization'. - Fred Fiedler & Martin Chemers Improving Leadership Effectiveness

Coaching, Newcastle 30th October 2006
I was recently reading about the notion of the Golden Seed in Charles Handys’ memoirs. How people in our lives can either intentionally or not make a big difference to us. This prompted me to take the time to thank just such a person in my life which came as a bit of a surprise to him I think! Anyway, coaching allows us all to do just that as well as creating self sufficiently and greater value in those who work with us. I had never really considered the morality of it.

Leadership of Change Session - Friday 27th October 2006

For a change I have changed header and date around. We toyed with the Dice Man Day idea. Do everything on the spin of a dice. Perhaps to much change for one day though. Still an excellent session looking at personal and organisational transitions.

26th October 2006 Powerboat Trainers Update Cumbrae

When this comes around every 5 years I swot up and realsie what I have forgotten. Then I reluctantly drive through to Largs for the day. Once there I have a great time, meet old colleagues and friends and learn a bunch of stuff as well as racing around in boats. Why does it seem such a chore beforehand then? Strange. I need to remember this for next time and make my life easier.

24th - 25th October - MBM Lecturing

Its always a pleasure working with post grads. The pleasant message coming back to me from the feedback was the difference between getting them to think for themselves and having them 'go through the motions' of calss attendance. Good metaphor for work I thought.
