Managing EmotionsThe secret to regulating emotions is self awareness and space. I recently took the opportunity to go diving whilst working evenings in the Middle East. It was a while since I had been and I quickly found myself moving fast towards entering the water whilst realising I could not remember as much as I really needed to.
Awareness and space came into play. With this consciousness and a few minutes pause I was able to gather my thoughts and ask for the necessary guidance and support.
It was still a case of ‘get good fast’ but at least I knew how I felt, why and had a plan to address it! This is true of many situations in life when the alterative might be to become overwhelmed.
