Talent

Many people talk of talent in the modern organisation; talent pools, talent management etc etc

However few really understand what is meant by talent.

To most businesses it is simply ‘who is doing the best job’ and as such much of the potential for the business is lost.

Even more alarming is that many individuals do not understand the notion of talent either, thereby inhibiting what they get back from their careers and is some cases being far less satisfied than they could be.

My view is that we cannot leave it to our employers to make the most of our lives – we need to understand and engage with that process ourselves. The reference Ridderstrale & Kjel Nordstrom is a good place to start.
